Ricky Ponting, who retired in December 2012 (11 months before Tendulkar) scored 13,378 Test runs. He was second to Tendulkar at the time, and still is in 2018.
As of April 2018, the leading scorer among those still playing Test cricket is Alastair Cook, who is currently 6th overall with 12,028. Next comes Hashim Amla, who is 15th with 8,982.
Third, fourth and fifth places are held by Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid and Kumar Sangakkara. Brian Lara is now seventh.
